Support and Health

How much training will I need?

Ongoing support

Digby will need new owners prepared to manage his resource guarding behaviours and general anxiety. He's worried by a lot of things and needs a patient, understanding family to help him see life isn't so scary.

Can I be left alone?

Yes

Digby has been left alone for a few hours previously and was said to be relaxed. As he's had quite a bit of upheaval recently, new owners need to be prepared that he is likely to need quite a long settling in period in his new home before he's comfortable to be left there. He is fully toilet trained and will ask to be let out with a little woof.

Do I have any medical conditions?

History of

Digby has experienced some diarrhea but is not currently on treatment for this.

Who I can live with

Can I live with dogs?

No

Can I live with cats?

No

Can I live with small pets?

No

Additional information

Digby needs to be the only dog in the home and would not be suited to living with cats. Out on walks, he tends to ignore other dogs but is not confident around them and may growl if they get too close.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Due to his anxiety and tendency to guard things he finds valuable, especially food; Digby is looking for an adult only home.

What type of environment would suit me?

Digby would be best suited to a quiet, low dog populated, predictable environment with minimal visitors as he is uncomfortable around new people. He will need to stay on lead on a walk due to his behaviour with other dogs and his anxiety levels.
He will require a private garden with 6ft fencing to allow him off lead fun time. No neighbouring dogs please.

About Digby

Digby is an anxious boy, looking for a stable environment with routines. He can take time to make friends, particularly with men but is very loving and trusting when he knows you. Digby loves playing with toys, particularly balls and tuggy toys; he likes to parade around with them. He will need understanding new owners who are prepared to be patient with him and give him space to learn things don't have to be scary.

Things to note

Digby will need to meet his new family at least a couple of times before going home to ensure he is comfortable with them.
