Support and Health

How much training will I need?

Ongoing support

Poppy will need new owners who are prepared to continue to work on her behaviour with strange people both inside and outside the home. She has bitten in the past when people have approached her too quickly. She also needs help becoming more comfortable with handling.

Can I be left alone?

Yes

Poppy is used to being left home alone for a few hours, so if given time to settle in and feel comfortable in her new home, we hope this would be able to continue. In her previous home she was fully toilet trained.

Do I have any medical conditions?

Existing conditions

Poppy is currently on some behavioural medication to assist with her training.

Who I can live with

Can I live with dogs?

No

Can I live with cats?

No

Can I live with small pets?

Yes

Additional information

Poppy will bark at dogs that come too close to her and is quite uncomfortable around them. She isn't looking for any trouble but does not want to be around them. Poppy used to live with cats and would chase them constantly so would not be suitable to do so again. She could live with securely housed small pets.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Poppy is looking to join a small, quiet, adult only home as she is very worried by new people and has bitten before. She takes a while to make friends so wouldn't be suited to a home with lots of visitors, particularly younger children.

What type of environment would suit me?

Poppy is looking for a home with a secure, private garden so that she can have a space to relax and run around off lead. Due to her behaviour with strange people and other dogs, she will need to be walked on lead.

About Poppy

Poppy is a really active little lady who enjoys her walks and loves to play with squeaky toys. She can take time to warm up to new people, and will need new owners who are prepared to work with her in this area to ensure she stays comfortable and safe. Once she knows you she is super sweet and affectionate. One of her carer's favourite things about her is just how cute she is once she feels comfortable enough to get the zoomies!

Things to note

Potential new owners will need to be prepared to visit Poppy several times in quick succession before taking her home to help with building a bond.
