Additional information

We have limited information on how Starlight is with other cats, but feel she may be ok with a laid-back cat in the home. She has never lived with a dog, but may be ok with a calm and quiet dog. Starlight could potentially share her home with securely housed small pets.

Family and environment

What kind of family am I looking for?

Starlight will need a quiet and calm home where she can have a predictable routine. Ideally, she would live with one or two adults, and in a home where there are not too many visitors. When there are visitors, she may to want to hide away.

What type of environment would suit me?

Starlight is looking for a home where she will eventually be able to explore outdoors. We recommend waiting until Starlight has the run of the house and is settled before giving her access to the outside.

Starlight has never had the opportunity to go outdoors previously, so she would benefit from places to hide outside when she does. Starlight may find a large open space rather overwhelming, so it is a good idea to provide shelter, several hiding areas, and places they can get up high to help her to feel safe outdoors. When going outdoors, Starlight must have the ability to access the house at all times so that if she becomes spooked, she can return to somewhere she feels safe.

About Starlight

Starlight’s new owner’s will need to be understanding that she is a cat with a very nervous nature and it is likely to take a long time, potentially months, for her to settle. It is difficult to say how confident Starlight will become once settled, as we have limited behavioural history.

Starlight loves her food and this can be used to build a positive association by placing treats near her hiding area. Starlight needs an owner who is happy to take things at her pace and wait until she is confident enough to come out and investigate.

When going to a new home, it is likely, especially during the settling in period that Starlight may have some toileting issues and her new owners must be prepared for this.
