Jake

Jake

Jake arrived at Woodgreen in a pretty poor condition – underweight and with thickened crusty skin. Donations from supporters like you can make all the difference to pets in need, just like Jake.

A sorry state

Jake was spotted by Woodgreen team member Harriet, who noticed him living on a nearby riverbank after moving into her new home. Neighbours said he’d been a stray ‘for years’ and given he was in such a sorry state, she decided to bring him in.

Please help unloved pets like Jake

We're seeing more and more pets who need extra care and help. We'll never turn them away and will continuously help more unloved pets like Jake.

£

£38.51 would pay for a cat to be neutered and reduce the risk of roaming.

£

£5 a month could pay for a pet’s essential first vaccinations before they’re rehomed.

On arrival, Jake was in a very poor condition, with bald patches in his coat, thickened crusty skin and some missing teeth. He was also under-weight and so dirty that his patches of white fur looked almost brown. Although Jake was microchipped, we couldn’t trace his owner, but we did find out that he was 14 years old.

Help us find more pets like Jake their forever home

Older cats can have all kinds of underlying health conditions, but Jake settled in well and after a few months of medical treatment and loving care – and plenty of cat food – he was steadily restored to health.

A descale and polish sorted out his remaining teeth. And while he needed biopsies on suspicious lymph nodes, he was found to have no serious problems, which meant he could be put up for rehoming.

A second chance at a forever home

Being a river cat, we’re delighted to say that Jake now has a new home with owners Jess and Will – on their houseboat!
