We remain open to unwanted and homeless pets 365 days a year, and Wood Green is currently open to the public by appointment only. We’re seeing more unwanted pets who need urgent surgery, or lengthy training and rehabilitation. Please support our work today.
Meet the stars of The Dog House
Four legs and two - meet the dogs we've helped at Wood Green, and the humans getting them back on their paws.
Say hello to the pets we help
Every one of our dogs came to Wood Green after someone could no longer look after them, or because they were found abandoned or stray. Big, small, pedigree or pooch, we’ll make sure they’re fit and well thanks to our onsite veterinary team and surgery. And if they’re shy, angry or scared, we’ll help them get used to people again and what life in a home feels and sounds like.
Only once we’re sure a pet is ready for another home will we start to find them a new family. Sometimes it’s love at first sight. Sometimes it takes a while. But we’re always here until we find a home for our guests.
Find out how we helped some of our more famous residents, and the humans who help them thrive – you might recognise all of them from episodes of The Dog House on Channel 4!
Gendry was part of a German Shepherd litter. After the mum rejected them within a couple of hours of being born they were brought to Wood Green to hand rear.
This majestic Rhodesian ridgeback, Leilo, was brought to Wood Green because her owners couldn't afford to keep her any longer. She’d spent the last four years – almost all of her life – wearing a cone-shaped buster collar to prevent her scratching.
West Highland Terrier Norman was brought to Wood Green after being found alone barely able to stand, with extremely matted fur. After some much-needed grooming, love and care, he blossomed into a confident canine.
One-year-old lurcher Sonia came to Wood Green from a local vet in Cambridgeshire, after she was found abandoned in a car park suffering from a terrible leg injury. But with plenty of care and rest at Wood Green, she was soon back on all four paws.
Stray West Highland terrier Grant was left abandoned by the side of the road, and brought to Wood Green by a dog warden who found him. With time and patience, he regained his trust in humans and found his way into a loving new home.
Vicky is one of our amazing Veterinary Nurses who works on the frontline, helping the most vulnerable and poorly pets in our care. The team provide immediate medical treatment for injured pets.
Kali and Ollie
Inseparable husky siblings Kali and Ollie were used to a lot of attention and fuss, so when their owners had a baby, they became very unsettled. After some advice from us and some soul-searching, the huskies came to Wood Green.
You might remember Chris from series one of The Dog House. As one of our Dog Rehomers and a Team Leader in our kennels, Chris meets almost every dog that we look after!

Help us gives dogs like Dennis another chance
When Dennis arrived, he was in a terrible state with bald patches, itchy, cracked skin, and he was nervous of everyone. Over time, we helped him recover to heal his sores and feel comfortable with people again, and now he's happily rehomed! Every month we see dogs like Dennis, and your donations mean we're ready to help.
